Life at Quaker Lake | |
The road to Quaker Lake in 1910. Makes it pretty easy to understand how it took half a day to go 15 miles by horse and buggy. |
In 1908, Frank H. Beach, BB's grandfather, built a cottage at Quaker Lake, Pa. The cottage has remained in the family ever since.
Quaker Lake has always meant a relaxing place to spend the summer, with activities at the Club House when we were younger, swimming and boating, stretching out on the wicker couch on the front porch with a good book, picnic lunches out on the boat, Carnival fun, and much more. For the critters it meant more time outside... and a great place to nap after rabbit hunts.
Daisy and Woodrow try to ignore the fact that the other is there. | |
Woodrow instructs Wilma as to who does what around here as Wilma "relaxes" in her bed by the fireplace. |
And there always seemed to be critters around the house.. Spot might not be the great hunter some of her brothers and sisters were, but she certainly knows how to take over the house. |
